Meet the Team

Sameer Walia

Sameer | Founder

Sameer moved to the social sector after 27 years in entrepreneurship and management consulting. In 2022, he founded the RoH Foundation to help stop rural communities from marrying off girls at an early age. The organisation uses sports, education, and constitutional levers to empower both the girls and their communities.

In 2003, Sameer founded The Smart Cube, a data analytics company. He spearheaded its growth into a global leader in the analytics solutions space and sold the company in 2022. Vital to the success of his venture was his decade-long strategy consulting experience with Accenture in the 1990s and early 2000s.

A rather private person, Sameer is an avid climber, loves to hike in the upper reaches of the Himalayas, and runs multi-day expeditions down white-water rivers in India. He is a zealous distance runner, a sport that is a way of life for him. Sameer’s idea of a beautiful life is sipping fine espresso after a long run with his eight-year-old golden retriever and getting to steal fifteen minutes of togetherness with his teenage daughter.

He is an Aspen Fellow, a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and on the Board of Trustees of the Ananta Aspen Centre. Sameer is a part of the moderator corps of the Aspen Institute, USA.

Geetika | Executive Director

Geetika brings over two decades of experience across education, leadership development, and grassroots social work. Her work has consistently focused on young adults from marginalized communities, especially girls, supporting them to stay engaged with learning, build confidence, and widen their sense of possibility.

As a mother of two daughters, these concerns are both professional and personal. She believes that when young people, particularly girls, are given safe spaces, trust, and time, they are better able to question limiting norms and make informed choices about their lives, including around early marriage.

Through her work with Udaan Educational Trust and Manzil Welfare Society, Geetika has been closely involved in designing and leading community-based initiatives across education, life skills, and well-being. She works alongside young people, families, and local stakeholders, guided by the belief that lasting change comes from listening, patience, and shared ownership.

At RoH, she supports programs that strengthen confidence, agency, and continuity in education for young adults from marginalised communities one step at a time.

Sonam | Program Lead

Sonam’s work is shaped by her own upbringing in a village where girls’ education was limited and early marriage was common. Witnessing these realities early on influenced her decision to work with marginalised communities, especially girls.

She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Banaras Hindu University and has chosen social work as a way to translate concern into sustained action.

Over the past three years at RoH, Sonam has grown with the organisation, from two centres to ten active centres today. As Program Lead, she oversees program planning, implementation, team coordination, and community engagement.

She believes education, awareness, and confidence are essential for lasting social change.

Shrishti | Program Anchor Suryagaon

With a background in engineering and experience in analytics and research-driven roles, Shrishti has always balanced her professional work with a deep and sustained engagement in social service. Working with children has been a space of continuous learning and unlearning for her.

She began her journey in education with Make A Difference (MAD), teaching mathematics for several years to a small group of girls at a shelter home in Delhi. She later worked with AIPS, a day school in Sangam Vihar, supporting efforts to strengthen the quality of education.

Shrishti’s association with RoH grew from a shared belief in the transformative power of sports for girls. A late entrant to running herself, she deeply values what sports offer young people, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and the ability to navigate both success and failure.

As a volunteer, Shrishti has been instrumental in shaping and strengthening the Suryagaon program. Working closely with the field team, she supported the program’s growth from basic fitness, running, and exploration of the Sattal region to girls competing at state and national- level volleyball tournaments within just two and a half years. Her contribution has played a key role in where RoH stands today, particularly in Suryagaon.

For Shrishti, sports also create safe and joyful spaces, where girls can simply be together, feel a sense of belonging, and experience freedoms often taken for granted.
